Discover Polo Beach, Maui

Here’s an impromptu photo tour of Wailea’s Polo Beach that I captured one summer weekend that featured a really nice south swell. The Fairmont Kea Lani looks out to this awesome South Maui beach, which is usually pretty calm (like most other beaches on Maui’s south side). But on this day the boogie boarders and body surfers got to rip it up… a rare treat.

The other smaller building that overlooks the secluded hidden half of Polo Beach is the Polo Beach Club. This is also the starting point to the scenic walkway that winds along Wailea’s shoreline, which is not only an amazing way to experience Wailea, but it’s also a popular walking and jogging route for the health-conscious.

Amazing views of Red Hill (Pu‘u O‘Lai), Molokini, and Kaho‘olawe add the finishing touch to what is considered one of Maui’s top beaches.

Look for the spacious (and shaded) parking lot along the road heading makai (towards the ocean) near the Fairmont Kea Lani. There’s a nice shower and facilities too.
