Sugar Beach on Maui, Hawaii
This is a brief tour of Sugar Beach between the South Maui towns of Maalaea and Kihei. I use the term “brief” because given the size of this beach, I could easily do a 1-hour documentary about it. It’s one of the longest and most popular walking beaches on Maui. It gives you all different kinds of views of Haleakala, Makena’s Red Hill, Molokini, Kahoolawe, and the West Maui Mountains. It’s also a great place to spend some time by yourself if that’s what you’re looking for.
Nearby Kealia Pond and its boardwalk make for an interesting distraction from the beach. It’s where many migratory birds feed and nest during the wet months.
While it seems like miles away from anywhere, Sugar Beach is really easy to get to, given its proximity to the condo towns of Maalaea and North Kihei.
